Event Resources

Resources & suggestions to help you on your search for material and other event preparation!

Team Library

Our team library is a resource center of cuttings/scripts we have used in past years.  It is often helpful to read other people's cuttings of the material you are considering to get ideas about story lines or  even to just spark some ideas about potential places to look for something new that is totally right for you.  If you have questions about how to access the team library, please talk to one of the board members or a coach.

Interp: Finding Material

Finding good material is always a challenge, but can be fun if you approach it right and give yourself plenty of lead time!  Your coaches and board members can be great resources for you as they tend to know what has been done that you might want to stay away from, or they could have an idea in mind that would work great for you.  Even if they don't have something specific, they can help point you in the right direction.  Also, READ! The more you read, the more you can find that will/won’t work. It is never a waste of time to read a script. If it doesn’t work then you have one book that you KNOW doesn’t work.

HELPFUL HINTS
  • When you are reading, check out who published the book. Find the publisher's website and see what else they are publishing.
  • Read at book reviews.
  • Ask a librarian or book store employee (it helps if you have a specific idea first).
  • If you find an author you like, search for other books by them or look for the "if you liked this book/author, you might like this other book/author" referrals.
  • Be sure you understand the rules for appropriate material for the league/tournament you are competing in.  Things allowed at local tournaments are not necessarily allowed at national or college tournaments.
